There are four bus operators on the island: Autobuses Voramar El Gaucho s.l. , Autobuses San Antonio s.l,. Bus Companies H.F. Vilas s.l. and Autobuses Lucas Costa sl. I think each one has its own fleet numbering system, but they do seem as though the numbering is done centrally. No 59 (9368 BDV) is an MAN 18.310 with a Noge body on route 13 to Eivissa town, a run which only takes 20-30 minues from Santa Eulalia. Seen in the Here is PM-7835-BV, a Pegaso with Beulas StargoMidget B55+29D body and no 35 in the fleet of Autobuses Empresa H F Vilas S.A. It had arrived from Santa Eulalia and is in Evissa. New in 1994. This no 36 (PM-7836-BV) of H F Vilas and is a Pegaso with Beulas StargoMidget B59+26D body and about to depart Eivissa for the beautiful north coast resort of Portinatx. This resort was used as a location for some of the film In the fleet of el Gaucho is no 76 (9736 CRL) and is an MAN/Noge Cittour B32+76T. It is seen in Evissa having arrived from Platja d'en Bossa on route 14. It was new in 2004. Rear view of el Gaucho's no 76 in Eivissa. No 20 (IB-4463-DG) is an Iveco/Unvi Cidade II B51D in the fleet of Autobues San Antonia S.A., just arriving in Eivisaa on route 3 from the famous east coast resort (now called Sant Antoni in the Catalan language). No 49 (IB-2407-CX) is an Iveco Eurorider with an Unvi Citada B45+51D body in the fleet of Voramar (el Gaucho SL). It is seen in Eivissa town on circular route 12A to Jesus. Here is el Gaucho's no 48 (PM-9649-CL), an Iveco Eurorider 29A with Castrosua CS40 B49+37D body and is entering Eivissa on route 11 from the resort of Ses Salines, close to the airport and the salt flats! No 46 (IB-5298-DG - formerly B-7130-KC) is in the fleet of H F Vilas and is a Pegaso 6420/ENASA B31+77D working route 18 from Santa Eulalia to San Antonio. It was new in 1999. This is Heckmondwike based ADL Trident/Alexander Enviro400 1909 (YJ58 FHL) in Interurban livery and about to depart for Leeds on service 222 on Easter Monday 13/04/09. Compare this with the Manchester version seen elsewhere in this section. A Sunday view (Easter Monday actually) of Heckmondwike garage. Here are 515, 519 and 516 respectively, Volvo Olympian/East Lancs at Heckmondwikr garage. This is Dennis Dart/Alexander ALX200 196 (P196 VUA) on the 212 from Wakefield to Dewsbury. It was taken on 20/06/09 passing Staincliffe Parish Church, Batley. It is seen in the increasingly popular Interurban livery (and since this was taken, now also sports chromed wheel trims). I was out looking for the new ADL Enviro200 Darts on service 282. Here is one of the new ADL/Enviro200 Darts. 1061 (YJ09 CUY), turning into Woodfield Avenue, Staincliffe, Batley on the 282. The first of the batch of ADL Enviro200s, 1050 (YJ09 CSU) is seen in Dewsbury on service 281 to Fieldhead Estate, Birstall on 20/06/09. 1057 (YJ09 CUG) is seen in Dewsbury on the 282 to Fieldhead Estate, Birstall, but by a completely different route to the 281 as far as Batley, where then they combine. This is ADL/Enviro200 1065 (YJ09 CVD) leaving Dewsbury for Bradford on the 283. This route follows the 281 route to Birstall and then continues to Bradford via Birkenshaw and East Bierley. Seen heading for Dewsbury on the 282 is Arriva ADL/Enviro200 1062 (YJ09 CVA). Seen in Leeds is Arriva's new Optare Tmpo 1305 (YJ09 EYH), one of 13 based at Castleford for (mainly) routes 163-166. Here is a front view of Optare Tempo 1310 (YJ09 EYP), seen in Leeds Arriva Dennis Dart 192 (P192 VUA), another in the Interurban livery on service 213 from Morley via Batley to Dewsbury. It is seen travelling along Deighton Lane Staincliffe, Batley on 18/07/09. Leaving Woodfield Avenue, Staincliffe, Batley on one of the few glorious days in July (Sat 18th) is 1065 again. I just turned in time to capture Dennis Dart 190 on the 212 to Wakefield. Note the standard Arriva livery. On 17/07/09 is seen 1066 (YJ09 CVE), the last (numerically) of the batch of ADL/Enviro200, seen turning into Woodfield Avenue, Staincliffe on the 282. Theses buses, branded for 281/282/283, do stray onto other routes quite frequently. Well not really Yorkshire, this Arrive NW/Manchester is their 4433, ADL Trident/Alexander Enviro400 and was taken to view the different livery. Compaer this with the one at Heckmondwike taken on Easter Monday 13/04/09 and in Interurban livery. Which version do you like best? This Volvo Olympian/East Lancs is 518 (M701 HPF) and is seen lurking in the garage at Heckmondwike. It is supposed to be allocated to Selby, but if it is withdrawn it should have a red band painted around it. The image quality is unfortunately poor and was taken using a mobile 'phone. 488 (S488 ANW), DAF SB220/Alexander ALX400, pulls out of Castleford bus station, presumably out of service. 176 (P176 VUA), another ex-Dewsbury Dart sets off for Leeds on a 167 run. 1309 (YJ09 EYO) is an Optare Tempo on the 166 to Leeds. Just arriving in Castleford from Leeds is Optare Tempo 1312 (YJ09 EYS) on 26/09/09. DAF/Optare Spectra 715 (YH52 CFU) heads away from Castleford bus station. Seen in Castleford on 26/09/09 is M Travel of Altofts, Normanton's Optare Spectra, K306 FYG. It was about to form the final 134 of the day to Pontefract at 1551. Ross Travel of Featherstone operate service 125 to Wakefield and their Optare Solo, MX07 NTK is ready to depart Castleford on 26/09/09. The operator's colours are those of Featherstone Rovers Rugby League club. Mybe it's their team bus! I didn't see these three Arriva buses at Castleford move. They are, left to right, 708 (YG52 CFJ), 182 (P182 VUA), ex Dewsbury and 711 (YG52 CFM). About to leave Castleford on the 156 to Ferry Fryston, is Optare Tempo 1300 (YJ09 EYA), numerically the first if the batch of 13 and all named after legendary rugby league players. For the uninitiated out there, rugby league is played with two teams of 13 players!

What a fearsome looking creature is this German Neoplan seen at Park Lane. The rear is much better. Arriva VDL DB250/Wrightbus DW104 at the porter's rest bus stop on Park Lane. Also at he porter's rest is London General WVL67. You can still usually see the ubiquitous Routemaster and RML888 is no exception. RML888 stuck in a traffic jam outside Victoria bus station. This was the result of a police announcement of Near the end of its London Life is this M-B Citaro artic of Arriva, MAL26 (BX02 YYO). About to leave Victoria coach station is this Scania/Irizar PB on a National Express run to Wolverhampton. FJ55 OYS

We were there in the heat of August, from the 2nd to the 16th - glorious. Its bus services then were operated by Hispania (owned by the Sagales Group of Reus) and Plana Bus. The resort is close to the airport at Reus and the ancient city of Tarragona is not far away; also in striking distance is the region's capital, Barcelona. This is no. 133 (B 7628 JU), a Pegaso with a Unicar body, new in 1989 and withdrawn in 2003 from the Hispania fleet. Here is Plana bus 157 (T 9183 AT), a Pegaso with an Irizar Everest body. It was new to Portillo as their no. 412 in 1988 and acquired by Plana in 1997. This is no. 88. a Pegaso of the Hispania fleet, with Plana bus 104 passing in the opposite direction. This was our first family holiday abroad and we visited Port d'Alcudia in Mallorca. It was a totally new experience, from flying, to stepping off the plane at 1 a.m. and being hit by the heat at that hour; to the white sandy beach, the safe, shallow water of the Mediterranean sea at the resort and the glorious (hot August) sunny weather; to new found food in paella, calamari and ice creams with names like Frigo (Wall's), Camy (Nestle's) and the local Mennorquina; "pop" with the name Kas and Spanish beers like Estrella Damm and San Miguel, but more German beers like Krombacher, Erdinger, Bittburger, Diebels, Warsteiner and a whole host of others; and to big hotels and apartment blocks. Oh and, for me, a new bus operator by the name of Autocares Mallorca (before being entangled in the vines of Arriva plc). That small, but mixed fleet, even had on-board bus stop announcements (something we can hardly manage here today!). Autocares Mallorca no 27 (PM-9343-AM), a Pegaso, in the shade in Pto de Alcudia. Autocares no 40 again. PM-1944-IJ, Autocares Mallorca no 30 on the local route from Belle Vue to Alcudia. This bus is of course no longer with us. No 32 (PM-4524-AH) of A.M. is a Setra coach and was used on the long sceinc journey from Pto de Alcudia to Pto Soller and is pictured on the quayside at Pto Soller. This driver was an excellent driver and person. His return journey finished at the Marina in Pto de Alcudia, but remembered we had boarded at Ciudad Blanca and took us (and only us)back there.. No 36 (PM-4851-BZ) of Autocares Mallorca is an Iveco 391E/Castrosua B39D on route 2 from Ca'n Picafort to Puerto Pollensa and is seen at the Ciudad Blanca Hotel bus stop. A.M. Pegaso PM-1257-W en route to Ca'n Picafort. A Pegaso (PM-4257-W) of A.M. awaits its passengers at Belle Vue. The museum has trolleybuses from Belgium, England, Scotland, France, Germany and Portugal and some require a lot of restoration work needed on them. The Society will always welcome donations and physical help to get these vehicles in running order once again. The members are very approachable and knowledgeable people and this will not be my last visit there. Whilst in Lucca we chanced upon a veteran/vintage car rally just leaving the piazza as we arrived and they are shown here. They are supposed to be at the end of the sequence, but unfortunately, the vagaries of fotopic has slotted them at the beginning. The afternoon was spent in Pisa, known to everyone for its leaning tower, which to a lot of us, seemed lower than expectations had us believe. ]]> Thu Jul 3 2008 Tuscan Travels - Part 4, Montecatini Terme http://stevebenson9696.fotopic.net/c1556736.html Montecatini Terme is one of many spa towns in Italy and was the base for the trip to Tuscany. It was a town of some splendour many years ago, but it still offers an air of quality with lots of hotels and upmarket shops and the wonderful hilltop village of Montecatini Alto. To reach this area it is best to ride the funicular up to the top of the hill and then take in the magnificent view, walk around this quaint village and perhaps stop in the piazza for a drink and reflection. Wednesday 2 July 2008: Montecatini Terme is one of many spa towns in Italy and was the base for the trip to Tuscany. It was a town of some splendour many years ago, but it still offers an air of quality with lots of hotels and upmarket shops and the wonderful hilltop village of Montecatini Alto. Here are shots taken from Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogan. As the holiday was for just one week, I didin't have the opportunity to travel to Las Palmas GC or other towns. Unfortunately I do not have any seating capacities for any buses shown, so if anyone can help please let me know. ]]> Mon Oct 1 2007 Buxton, Derbyshire http://stevebenson9696.fotopic.net/c1409993.html Tried the Derbyshire Wayfarer ticket. The run from Sheffield to Buxton on T.M.Travel's Mercedes Benz minibus to Buxton travels through the villages of Grindleford, Calver, Stoney Middleton, Eyam, Foolow, Litton, Tideswell and Miller's Dale before terminating in Buxton (from where it then departs for Chesterfield). The weather through the villages was beautiful and sunny. Arrival in Buxton changed the weather to November! The day did not get much better and therefore no photographs from Ashford in the Water, Bakewell, or Matlock. To get to Matlock, the bus goes through Darley Dale where there are long term roadworks (to create a by-pass I understand) and lengthy delays for the buses.
